Flying Free - Museum Series (Souvenir Edition)
This is the latest installment in my Museum Series!
I took an extensive photo diary of my trip to Cairo this summer, and they were mostly taken at museums. The whole time I was there I was thinking of ways that I could bring back what I experienced there. I really wanted to include a tangible object made by someone else’s hands, and with their permission of course I would incorporate into my work. A collaboration of sorts. But more than anything a souvenir for you from Egypt!
I settled on the sweetest botanical pierced sterling silver element (artist unknown) that I attached to the chain. A little bit about the souvenir. I found it at Khan El Khalili as I spent hours browsing a series of boxes full of trinkets and charms.
The enameled backdrop was hand drawn and painted and is based on an ancient shard of pottery that I also applied as a decal in some previous pieces. The goose was sculpted and hand carved out of sterling silver metal clay. I color matched ombré Leland blue to the blues in the enamel.
